We invite you to submit your uplifting story or story ideas that shine a spotlight on Hollis, its citizens, memorable events, exceptional businesses, and community happenings. We would be honored to share your stories, articles, photos, and events with our readers. We also welcome ideas for stories you would like us to cover. Writers of all ages are welcome to submit.
Content and Theme:
Stories and ideas must align with the theme of our website, which includes positive community building stories related to Hollis. Topics include town issues, history, community profiles, groups, and organizations, local farm news, homesteading items for sale, artist’s profiles, children's section, event articles, animals and pets, cooking and recipes, gardening, and more.
Style:
We invite and encourage our contributors to submit stories that are not only engaging but also informative and narrative in nature. Crafting an engaging story around your topic will pique people's interest and make your message more compelling to them. If you prefer an interview style, please submit an outline of the information you would like included along with any other general information about the topic. We will create interview questions for you to respond to for your story.
Originality:
Originality is key to maintaining the authenticity of our platform, so we kindly request that all submissions be original works written by you or your organization. Plagiarism or copying content from other sources is strictly prohibited.
Event Sharing:
It is not our intent to duplicate event calendars already in place across other Hollis websites. However, we will publish a notice of an event if accompanied by an article which will give our event sponsors a great opportunity to promote the event helping to generate interest, community engagement, and encourage attendance. All event notices should include information about the event and your organization. The PH Post will arrive in Hollis homes and business during the first week of March, June, and September.
Story Deadlines: Submit your stories, articles, and events for editorial review 6 weeks before our publication date.
March 2024 Issue: Deadline January 15th
June 2024 Issue: Deadline April 15th
September 2024 Issue: Deadline July 15th
January 2025 Issue: Deadline November 15th
Submission Process:
Please submit your stories or article idea as a Word document or plain text file via email (positivelyhollis@gmail.com). Include "Submission" in the subject line. Submissions will be published at our discretion.
Author Information:
For submitted stories include the name of the author and if appropriate, the position or job description.
Images:
We suggest 2-3 relevant images to accompany your story. Provide the names of people featured and a caption/description for each photo submitted. Make sure you have the necessary rights and permissions to use the images. Images should be submitted in .jpeg format. All images are subject to approval.
Editing:
Our editorial team may edit your submissions for clarity, and grammar, and to align them with our publication's style and tone.
Review and Response:
Our team will review all submissions. If your submission is selected for publication, we will notify you of the scheduled posting and any potential edits. If space limitations prevent us from publishing your story or event in the PH Post, we will publish it on our website and share it on social media. You will be notified if that is the case.
Rights and Attribution:
By submitting your story, you grant us the right to publish it in the newspaper, and on our website, giving proper credit to the author. You also authorize us to post and share on Hollis-related social media.
Legal and Ethical Considerations:
Ensure that your content adheres to all legal and ethical guidelines. Avoid content that may be offensive, discriminatory, or harmful to individuals or communities.
